Keep pearland beautiful environmental scholarship

PURPOSE
To encourage and assist Pearland high school seniors who have demonstrated good stewardship of the environment in their journey to pursue environmentally mindful studies at a 2-year community college or a 4-year college/university in the areas of science, engineering, government, communications, and business (including non-profit management).

KPB Golden Pear Fellowship Award of $10,000 – 1 Recipient
KPB Scholarship Award of $1,000 – Up to 5 Recipients

ELIGIBILITY
KPB Scholarship Award

  • Minimum adjusted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Minimum of 12 environmentally related volunteer hours for preceding 12-month period
  • Resident of Pearland, TX for at least 1-year prior to application submission
  • Graduating senior in CY23/24 school year from the following schools: Dawson HS, Pearland HS, Shadow Creek HS, Turner HS, or Verified Home School Assoc.


KPB Golden Pear Fellowship Award

  • Minimum adjusted GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Minimum of 40 environmentally related volunteer hours for preceding 12-month period
  • Minimum of 20 volunteer hours with Keep Pearland Beautiful for preceding 36-month period
  • Minimum of 1 year service with KPB YEC or a similar on-campus environmental club/association
  • Resident of Pearland, TX for at least 3-years prior to application submission
  • Graduating senior in CY23/24 school year from the following schools: Dawson HS, Pearland HS, Shadow Creek HS, Turner HS, or Verified Home School Assoc.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Letter of recommendation from a non-relative and non-teacher. (x2 for GP Fellowship)
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or school administrator.
  • Certified transcript showing Pearland residency and GPA – One of the following:
    A. One-page proposal for a community project that addresses one or more of KPB’s focus areas: Litter Prevention, Beautification/Preservation, & Recycling/Landfill Diversion
    B. One-page press release introducing yourself as the winner of the Keep Pearland Beautiful Environmental Scholarship that includes a brief introduction to KPB; how you contributed to KPB’s mission; why you were chosen as the scholarship recipient including direct evidence of your merits and environmental stewardship; and a photo showing you active in the community.
